Basement
BASEMENT

The basement is now used for internal purposes and is not open to the public.

It can be reached either by the small staircase or directly from the garden through the large double wooden doors. Part of the basement was formerly used to house the boiler, which used coal and wood as the fuel.

At one side of the foot of the staircase is the house pantry, used to keep food and drink fresh. The pantry is formed by a 14-metre-long blind corridor, with different places to store foodstuffs.

The old cesspool is on the other side of this small staircase. This was necessary when the house was first built, because there was no sewer system in Park Güell.
